Why Your Concrete Floors Need a Levelling Compound Treatment

Do you have concrete floors at your house or work? Perhaps you’ve observed that your concrete floors are uneven, regardless of how wonderful they appear, and you need a remedy. If your concrete floors aren’t flat, don’t worry; there is a remedy called levelling compound in Bristol.

The best solution is to have an industrial concrete floor professionally installed by Top Mix Ltd. If your concrete flooring is not professionally installed, it may result in an uneven surface. Because of the difficulties in transporting and placing highly wet and heavy concrete across wide areas, there may be some inaccuracy and unevenness in the installation.

When to Use Levelling Compound?

Many individuals decide to level their concrete floors themselves. However, the amount of self-levelling compound you use on a concrete floor is determined by how uneven it is. A long spirit level may also be used to determine how uneven your floor is properly.

What Is A Self-Levelling Floor Screed?

A self-levelling screeding compound contains latex because it is applied in a thin layer, allowing concrete floors to move without splitting. When self-levelling compounds are mixed and poured, they flatten across the uneven floor and utilise gravity to level themselves.

To lay a self-levelling floor compound, we first clean the floor. To prepare your floor, we remove all of the furniture, baseboards, and appliances from the room. Remove everything from the room so that it is fully clear and may be properly finished. Next, we sweep the area thoroughly before vacuuming it again to remove any dust. Once the floor is fully dust-free, it will be primed.

Fill and seal any significant cracks in your concrete floor. After preparing the floor, we will apply the primer using a soft-bristle push broom, spreading it evenly throughout the whole area.

Mix The Compound

The installers will mix the compound in a bucket with a mixing paddle until the desired consistency is achieved. Mix no more than one bag at a time, as the levelling compound is only pourable and spreadable for around 15-30 minutes. We usually prefer working with a pair on this project since it allows one person to make the next batch of leveller compound while the other pours and spreads it.

Let The Concrete Leveller Dry

Once all of the concrete floor levelling compound has been distributed on the floor, we allow it to cure according to the manufacturer’s directions. Most concrete floor levelling chemicals cure fast, allowing them to be walked on after only 4 hours and entirely drying within 24 hours. Remember that the drying time of your floor levelling product varies depending on temperature and humidity.
